How to Save on Trips to See Your Kids at College
HomeUncategorizedHow to Save on Trips to See Your Kids at CollegeThis page may contain affiliate links.May 9, 2019Planning on visiting colleges or visiting your student already in college during the coming months? Drop-off day? Parents Weekend? Homecoming? Hotwire is offering $24 off Hot Rate Deals this Friday. Hotwire Hot Rate Deals are special mystery hotel deals where you donââ¬â¢t know the hotel name until after you complete the purchase. You do know the star rating and can see reviews. Through Hot Rate Deals, Iââ¬â¢ve been able to stay at Sheratons for the price of a Motel 6. Hereââ¬â¢s what you need to know to make the most of this special promotion: Where You Can Travel You can pretty much go anywhere you choose to travel. For example, I went on Hotwire.com and searched for rooms for Memorial Day weekend for College Station, Texas and Rome, Italy. For College Station, there was a 4-star hotel available for $82 per night, discounted from $121 per night. The cost for three nights was $310.11 including taxes plus a $15 resort fee. With the $24 off promotion, the total cost including the resort fee was $301. If you decided to go Rome, Italy while your student went to College Station, you could get a room by the Vatican for $114 per night, discounted from $207 nightly. For three nights, the total cost after applying the $24 off promotion was $414.86 including taxes and fees. How Hotwire Hot Rate Hotel Deals Work Hotels offer special discounts below normal rates to fill up empty rooms. The hotel name doesnââ¬â¢t show until you officially book the reservation so there isnââ¬â¢t a visible advertised price online for the same hotel that may charge more if you could see the name. For instance, Iââ¬â¢ve scored rooms for $119 per night that other people who were going to the same conference I was attending paid $159 per night for. Because it was a Hot Rate Deal, I didnââ¬â¢t know the hotel name before booking, but I did select the neighborhood I wanted to stay in. Thus, I knew it was within a mile or so of where I needed to be. I also had a hunch Iââ¬â¢d get the conference hotel because Hotwire shows you during the booking process what the hotel was that the last person who chose the same Hot Rate Deal received. Be Very Specific in Search Parameters You canââ¬â¢t see the name of the hotel ahead of time, but you can make sure the hotel meets all of your requirements. You can search by price range, neighborhood, star rating, and amenities. For instance, you could decide you only want 5-star pet friendly hotels. If choosing a pet friendly room, you will want to make sure you can afford pet fees just in case they are high or donââ¬â¢t accept your larger dog. In this case, call the list of four hotels that Hotwire says your Hot Rate Deal could be to check pet policies and prices. Youââ¬â¢ll find this list after clicking on the Hot Rate Deal but before paying for the reservation. How the Promotion Works To get an extra discount on Hot Rate Deals this Friday May 10th, enter the code STAYUPALLNIGHT at checkout. Youââ¬â¢ll get $24 off purchases of $120 or more in Hot Rate Hotel deals. The promo is good for travel any time you choose. If youââ¬â¢re planning trips to see your kids when they are off to college, a grad night trip for them, or just a vacation to celebrate being empty nesters, Its perfect if youve some places you want to travel to but not sure where youll be staying when you get there. You can purchase nights in hotels now up to March of 2020! How about a vacation to celebrate being empty nesters? Or, you can go on your own New Yearââ¬â¢s celebration trip!
